Career Technical Education & Internships (CITE)

SET YOUR CITE ON THE FUTURE!

shane-alayvilla-web Name: Shane Alayvilla
Age: 17  Grade: 2017 Graduate
I Chose: CITE
Why? “The CITE program gave me the opportunity to explore my desired career field. It allowed me to build on my technical skills in Engineering. Additionally, it allowed me to improve upon and develop soft skills such as communication and time management. The program has given me the tools I need to show colleges and universities that I concentrated on Engineering while in high school; I now stand out on college and job applications because of the opportunities the CITE program at Springs Charter Schools.”
Shane says: “After high school, I hope to attend the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo to study Electrical Engineering to hopefully, one day, work on a safe renewable energy solution.”

When a student is involved in CITE, they naturally develop insight to their passions through real world experiences, resulting in learning with critical analysis, problem solving and developing professional skills. This prepares them for career and college, as well as the journey that becomes their life. High school students in every Springs program are welcome to take a CTE course.

Work Experience Education (WEE) offers students three different types of internships which are an invaluable source of real world working experience. WEE teachers work one-on-one with CTE students to match their internships with their chosen CTE pathway, strengthening their understanding of the career in which they are investing
