She received a match offer from both the Overdeck Family Foundation and Simons Foundation, which work to promote math and science both inside and outside the classroom, meaning that every donation received was doubled. Her request was advertised through social media, and she was able to receive full funding totaling $705 in a week.

Ms. Look said, “We have a wide variety of math manipulatives in the classroom that my kids enjoy using, and I wanted to be able to let students bring that same excitement that they have in the classroom to their homes to share with their parents. ”Students can sometimes fail to complete traditional pencil and paper math assignments,” she said, “due to the limited time parents can offer their children during the week, and the last thing they want to do is struggle to finish homework. So, providing fun games and different activities creates an age-appropriate way for kids to learn and also provides an opportunity for parents and children to enjoy the limited time they have together without sacrificing their learning.”
