Palm Academy 5th Grader Earns Gold Medal in Powerlifting Competition

Aaron began weightlifting a year ago when he began working with a trainer to stay fit. He learned exercises to build upper and lower body strength, coordination, conditioning and toning. The exercises included deadlifts, squats and bench press, the three events in powerlifting. His mother, Jackie Allen, noted, “Aaron took to them very fast. He enjoyed the success he was having in the gym.” Aaron expressed an interest in competing and began training.

Aaron joined Palm Academy, a program of Springs Charter Schools, this year; the family wanted smaller class sizes and individualized attention from the teacher. Aaron’s favorite subjects are history and science. Away from school, he likes video games and is passionate about supporting America’s military and veterans.
