I feel excited about learning all the time. The teaching here is a lot different; they don’t sit you down and lecture you, they actually interact with you and give you projects.
The Springs Charter Schools community is cordially invited to attend Otay Ranch Academy for the Arts’ February Art Expo, which will be held on February 10th, 5-7 p.m. in the Mater Dei Theater, 1615 Mater Dei Drive, Chula Vista, CA. Visitors can enjoy both a gallery walk and K-8th grade student performances.
The 4th & 5th grade of the Otay Ranch Academy for the Arts will enjoy a performance of Alice Chan by the La Jolla Playhouse on February 25. The production will visit the school site; prior to the performance, a Playhouse teaching artist will engage students in an interactive workshop to explore issues and themes at the core of the play. The Playhouse also provides schools with a standards-based engagement guide that enables educators to integrate the play into their existing curriculum. After each performance, the cast and crew conduct a question and answer session with the audience.
The Otay Ranch Academy for the Arts will host a Common Core Curriculum Night for Parents on Tuesday, February 16, 5-6 p.m. Common Core standards are important because they help children learn the same skills, and create clear expectations for what children should know and be able to do in such areas as reading, writing, speaking, listening, language and math. Attending the night and understanding Common Core will help parents to better work with their children and the teacher.
