Murrieta Student Center Partners with Brazilian Students

The Murrieta Student Center has launched a Global Science Collaboration partnering students from the Montessori Middle School program with high school students from Instituto de Educacao Beatissma Virgem Maria in São Paulo, Brazil. The students will create a display for the Western Science Center in Hemet comparing and contrasting Pleistocene animals in their respective regions.

Thomas Essel, program facilitator, explained, “This is a wonderful opportunity for students on both sides of the equator to learn not only about geological history, but also about other cultures. International collaborative projects like this are an essential part of fostering a sense of citizenship in a globalized world.”

On April 5, Brett Dooley from the Western Science Center came to the Murrieta Student Center to give the students an introduction to Pleistocene fossils.
