Special Education Teacher

Education

I have been an educator for many years. Immediately after completing my BA in Anthropology from the University of California at Santa Barbara, I taught Outdoor/Environmental Education in Massachusetts and Northern California. Shortly after that, I was an interpretive park ranger/archeologist in Mesa Verde National Park, CO. Confirming that I was destined to continue being an educator, I earned my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential and taught many grades in self contained classrooms and as a Reading Specialist. In 2011, I completed my MA in Human Development through Pacific Oaks College after many years of study, producing original research in childhood education. I have been a BTSA support provider for five years. In June, 2013, I completed the Teacher Leader Certification Academy and my capstone project and work: Growing EcoAwareness. Additionally, I am a Licensed Institute of HeartMath Qualified Instructor.
I am also a Master Composter and firmly believe that supporting and healing our Earth is fundamental in healing ourselves. I love to work with individuals and families, educating them to live and learn holistically.

Fun Facts

I have a passion to do humanitarian and ecological work in India and worldwide. My new project is designing vocational training for village women (and men). Next summer I plan to return to India for a third year and go into the tribal villages to meet the people who are affected by these programs.
