What is NHS?
The purpose of NHS is:
- To create enthusiasm for Scholarship
- To stimulate a desire to render Service
- To promote leadership
- To develop character
- To encourage citizenship
Membership in the National Honor Society is based upon performance in the following four areas:
Membership in the National Honor Society is one of the highest honors that can be awarded to a high school student. Springs Charter Schools is proud to sponsor a chapter of the National Honor Society and our chapter is working hard to bring the accomplishments of outstanding students to the attention of parents, teachers, peers, and the community. Our chapter, along with the more than 15,000 chapters in schools across the nation, strives to give practical meaning to the Society’s standards of scholarship, leadership, service, and character.
These four ideals are the basis for selection. National Honor Society strives to recognize the total student – one who excels in all of these areas. By completing a Candidate Student Information Form, you will have an opportunity to outline your accomplishments in the areas of Service, Character, and Leadership.

Your transcript will also be reviewed in order to determine your eligibility based on scholarship. Candidates eligible for election to the chapter shall have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 (out of 4.0); weighted grade point average based on letter grades only in CP and A-G core classes meeting graduation requirements; based on the previous two semesters of high school enrollment only.
Membership in the National Honor Society is optional and more than an honor. It incurs an obligation to demonstrate these outstanding qualities and it also carries a responsibility to the chapter. Membership will include attendance at monthly meetings and participation in a chapter service project and/or an individual service project. The meetings take place regionally. You may also have the opportunity to attend virtually.
Student submission will be reviewed, along with the transcript by the Springs faculty council for your charter and students determined to meet the requirements for eligibility will be notified. A special induction ceremony for students will be held in the fall.
The Candidate Student Information Form can be requested by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. If you are interested in the opportunity to be selected for membership, please do the following by September 15, 2017. No late forms will be accepted.
- Complete a Candidate Student Information Form and required essay
- Request and submit a letter of recommendation from a non-family community or school staff person

Body of Email/Fax MUST include the following:
Parent/Guardian Full Name
Student’s Full Name
Student’s Date of Birth
“The purpose of requesting this transcript is to allow Springs staff to review the student’s eligibility for the National Honor Society”

After you have submitted your request you may contact the transcript technician at 951-252-8836 if you have any questions. If you submitted your request via email you will receive an immediate auto-reply confirming receipt. Please check your spam messages.
We request that the forms be submitted by September 15, 2017, to provide the Faculty Council sufficient time to authenticate the information provided by candidates and to seek clarification in preparation for the selection meeting. Your cooperation in meeting this deadline is an indication of your responsibility and your commitment to being an effective member of our chapter.
