History Day

National History Day is an academic competition focusing on history for students in grades 4-12. It is similar to a Science Fair for History. To celebrate the 50th anniversary, the National History Day (NHD) theme will be Turning Points in History. This year’s theme invites your students to consider questions of time and place, cause and effect, change over time, and impact and significance. A National History Day project is your way of presenting your historical argument, research, and interpretation of your topic’s significance in history. NHD projects can be created individually or as part of a group.

These events open opportunities to win awards, and gain a deep understanding of an area of history that interest and challenges students. Please visit the National History Day website for inspiration on getting started. Please save the date for our virtual information meeting with History Specialist Kelli Seawright on October 11, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. We will send you a link. If you are a teacher wanting to attend this meeting for your class, please reach out to Nikki McAdoo or Kelli Seawright directly and we will add your name to our list.

Springs’ School-wide History Day and Science Fair will be on Thursday, January 11, 2024 at the Temecula Event Center from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30. Please sign up for our virtual information session and to receive updates on History Day.
