Biography:

With 15 years’ experience in teaching and counseling roles in various settings including the private and traditional public school sectors as well as charter school and private consulting, Rachel is committed to quality education as a life-long passion.

After completing her degrees in Social Sciences from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, she was eager to gain hands-on experience and began teaching at a private school right away before earning her teaching credential. The teaching credential and other certifications were soon to follow as she developed an insatiable appetite for learning. This momentum led her into leadership roles including director of Renaissance High School in Chula Vista (with Eagles Peak Charter School).

Honored to be a part of a team that is re-defining education, Rachel is committed to helping create a world where youth and elders are valued and people of all ages and backgrounds can acquire the tools they need to live their best life. Harbor Springs Charter School’s philosophy of parent choice, community as the classroom, and personalized learning inspired Rachel to become actively involved in supporting a value-based educational model that meets the needs of our youth with measurable outcomes. Specifically, she is enthusiastic about helping to facilitate the growth of happy, healthy, confident people and turn them loose into the world to make their contributions. Together with a team of equally passionate and skilled colleagues, she plans on setting precedents for education that help set global standards. When Rachel isn’t collaborating to build a school, she is writing a series of books, practicing Energy Medicine, and teaching yoga for war veterans.
