Online Teacher

Education

I graduated from Cal State San Bernardino with a BA in English, completed my teaching credential through Cal Poly, worked as a writing tutor for college-aged students and middle school second language learners, worked as a classroom teacher for K-1st grades for several years before becoming an ES, and homeschooled my own kids in grades 1-5 — so far.

Favorite Hobbies

When I am not busy being a homeschool ES, I homeschool my kids, research homeschool curriculum, talk to my homeschool friends, follow homeschool blogs, chat with homeschool parents, take homeschool trips, teach a homeschool group, and read homeschool books.

Favorite Books

At any given time you will find me devouring a library book, reading a book on my Kindle, and listening to an audiobook. This, of course, does not include all of the books I read to my kids. Lately my interests have fit into the following genres: classics, science fiction, historical fiction, fantasy, mystery, and literary fiction. If I had to pick my favorite book it would be one that took my world, tipped it on its side, and made me ask questions.

Fun Facts

I am happiest when I am watching the sun rise, cooking a new recipe, jogging while listening to 80s tunes, and “snoogling” my babies. One of my frivolous wishes is to hire a hotel maid who will come to my house every morning, make the beds, wipe down all my counters, pick up odds and ends, and then disappear before I see her. Oh, and I love my family and dog more than I love my 5:00 a.m. coffee, but I hope I never have to prove it to them.
