Riverside 6th Grader Excels at Dancing, Acting

Ronnie Lewis, 11, a 6th-grade student at Springs’ Riverside Student Center, is an accomplished young dancer and actor. He lives in Rancho Belago, California.

Ronnie has been dancing since age 5 and acting since age 8. He has been cast for multiple television commercials, including advertisements for Target, Skechers and Adidas, and in promotions for Disney and The Secret Life of Pets. He also performed on stage recently for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards with John Cena and N.E.R.D., was a dancer in the Short Squad on Nickelodeon Lip Sync Battle Shorties and danced on stage with Mariah Carey for a Disney Christmas special.

“I love performing to show off all the hard work and practice I have put into each piece,” Ronnie said. “I am drawn to it because I love to entertain others and make people happy.”

He spends up to 20 hours a week practicing, and takes acting, improve and musical theater classes with teacher Randy Ingram at the Riverside Learning Center. He also has two older sisters who are dancers.

Ronnie also enjoys Karate/MMA/Kick boxing, Parkour, guitar and drawing and painting. He added, “I also love building, and programming robots to go to robotic competitions with my group from First Lego League.”

His family chose the Springs program, Ronnie said, “because it had the classes at the learning center that addressed my interests while giving me the flexibility to work and train to be in the entertainment industry … Whether we are at home or on set I have everything I need to stay on top of my academic game.”

After graduation, he hopes to continue working as a performer in the entertainment industry.
