Springs served as a co-sponsor. Students were invited to come and sell their own products and services—no parental help was allowed—with the goal of introducing young people to the business world.
Springs participants included Homeschool student Matthew Crawford who created a camouflaged funnel for easier watering of Christmas trees. Homeschool student Layla Tucker sold pet bandanas, earning $150 at the event and another $100 prize for her idea.
The grand prize winner was Michael Kossler, a 5th grade Homeschool student who sold inspirational gift items. Michael earned $270 at the event, some of which he donated to the Rescue Mission, and received $500 cash and a $1,000 gift certificate to attend Concordia University’s week-long summer business school. “It was a fantastic event,” said Jennifer Kossler, Michael’s mother. “It really opened up the kids’ eyes to the possibilities that await them.”
